An armed suspect was critically injured in a Denver officer-involved shooting Monday afternoon, police said.
No officers were hurt, authorities said. The suspect, a man, was rushed to a hospital.
The shooting happened about 4 p.m. in the city's Jefferson Park neighborhood near the intersection of 26th Avenue and Zuni Street.
Photos showed officers swarming the area.
Police said the shooting happened as officers were checking on a stolen vehicle when the man got out of a separate vehicle "with a firearm."
"Shots fired! We need cover!" an officer called into his radio.
"Shots fired! Shots fired!" another officer yelled, according to dispatch archives captured on Broadcastify.com.

Roads in the area, along with the Ramada Denver Midtown, were sealed off as police continued to investigate.
