KUSA - Hamilton Middle School is in a Super Bowl reading competition
with students across the country.
The principal of a Charlotte, North Carolina middle school challenged the Hamilton Huskies to see which school can read the most in the week leading up to the big game.
On Wednesday, 900 Hamilton students read 31,000 pages.
“I think this means we are getting excited about reading. That’s what is really inspiring to me is all of our teachers in the building are really building excitement around reading and around the spirit of the Super Bowl, but focused on education,” said Christian Sawyer, the Hamilton Middle School principal.
The winner of the Super Bowl reading challenge will get to watch a video of the opposing school doing the “Dab” dance in the opposing team's colors.
The “Dab” is Panther Cam Newton’s celebration dance.
