There are plenty of disappointed liberal activists in Colorado after HBO host and comedian Bill Maher on Friday night sidelined U.S. Rep. Mike Coffman

in his “Flip a District” contest. Instead, of the four finalists in the running on “Real Time with Bill Maher” for a viewer-organizing attempt at throwing a Republican out of Congress, Maher’s show picked Rep. John Kline of Minnesota. The choice was broadcast from Washington, D.C., during a live “Real Time” episode.

Of course, Coffman, with tongue firmly in cheek, had welcomed his finalist status in Maher’s contest last month. In the weeks since, ProgressNow Colorado tried to rally Coloradans to vote for Coffman on the Flip a District website. Coffman is locked in a tight race with Democratic challenger Andrew Romanoff.
