DENVER BUSINESS JOURNAL - This week, all bets — big and small, for cash
and for beer — are on for the big game.
Super Bowl 50, where the Denver Broncos will face off against the Carolina Panthers, may be one of the largest betting events ever, with Americans betting an estimated $4.2 billion, according to a report by the San Francisco Business Times. That’s up 8 percent over last year.
“As Americans celebrate a milestone Super Bowl, they’ll also bet a record amount on the big game,” Geoff Freeman, president and CEO of the American Gaming Institute said in a statement Monday. “Just like football, sports betting has never been more popular than it is today.”
The AGA released the estimates and added that most of the bets will be placed under the table.
