Vicente Arenas will join the 9News anchor desk starting Feb. 20, the Denver NBC affiliate announced
Arenas, a former CBS News correspondent, will begin on the 5 p.m. newscast opposite Christine Noël.
"I have been following Vicente's career for years," said news director Christy Moreno in a statement released by 9News. "He has a proven track record of hard-nosed journalism, but also has an engaging, friendly and generous personality that perfectly fits the culture here at 9News."
The Houston Chronicle characterized Arenas' 2014-2015 run with CBS as "very short" when Arenas — the network's Miami correspondent — and CBS cut ties in September 2015.
Before joining CBS, Arenas spent 11 years at KHOU in Houston, Texas, and five years at WOAI in San Antonio, Texas.
A graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, Arenas officially begins at 9News on Feb. 17.
"It was my goal to live in Denver after leaving Miami," Arenas said on 9News.com today. "I've had a chance to visit several parts of the city and am loving every bit of it. I can't wait to start telling stories at 9News."
Arenas has served as the president of the San Antonio Association of Hispanic Journalists and the Houston Association of Hispanic Media Professionals, according to KHOU.
