LAKEWOOD - A warrant was issued for a man who police believe stabbed a rider on an RTD bus
while dressed in a Santa Claus suit Christmas Eve morning in 2015.
Brian Jacob Delorme, 34, was arrested by Walsenburg Police Wednesday on unrelated warrants out of Denver. After learning of the arrest, Lakewood Police -- who had suspected Delorme's involvement in the stabbing -- obtained a separate arrest warrant.
The Lakewood warrant is for suspicion of attempted first-degree murder and first-degree assault.
Delorme is currently in custody in Walsenburg.
On Dec. 24, around 1 a.m., Lakewood Police responded to the area of Sheridan Boulevard and West Florida Avenue after and RTD driver reported a stabbing that had occurred on the bus he was driving.
The suspect, who was described as wearing a Santa Claus suit, left on foot after arguing with another man and stabbing him while they were both on the bus.
The injured man was taken to the hospital and survived.
Arrangements are being made to take Delorme to the Jefferson County Jail. A court schedule has not been finalized yet.
