Macau’s former top prosecutor Ho Chio-meng, who was once tipped as a possible chief executive for the city, was arrested last night as he tried to board a ferry to Hong

Kong.

He is being detained on suspicion of corruption involving 167 million patacas (HK$162 million) linked to public works contracts.

Macau’s Commission Against Corruption confirmed a probe into a “former leader” of the public prosecutions office was underway.
