Keeping up with the monks
Imagine a reality show at a temple. That's right. The famous Shaolin Temple will be filming a reality
show that is quite original. Nine lucky kids aged 4 to 9 will be featured on the show, learning martial arts, medicine and zen with the monks. The kids will spend two months away from their parents, completely isolated, in the temple in Henan province.
The show’s goal is to educate kids to be more independent, and to learn more about traditional Chinese culture.
Out to lunch
I hope the kids aren't as whiny as an Ohio woman who has been arrested after calling the police emergency number to complain about the quality of her Chinese food. Police say the 44-year-old Alliance, Ohio, woman called the emergency number to say the Chinese food she ordered from a local restaurant was "not up to par for her liking."
After police determined the woman had no real emergency, she was arrested and charged with misuse of 911, a misdemeanor. Presumably, she's now eating crow.
Children of the mud
Crow is not what some kids outside of Detroit, were eating. Mud was more like it!A steady downpour made this one of the muddiest Mud Days yet. During the 27th annual Mud Days in suburban Detroit open to kids 12 and younger, the kids were encouraged - mostly by their parents safely from the sidelines - to roll around in mud. To get as dirty as possible. Remember your parents getting pissed at you for coming home in mud? Once a year at least, these kids get a pass.
