Erik Nilsson, who is from the United States, has been in China for nine years.
He is a Beijing-based journalist who has reported
on various issues, including rural poverty, social issues, civil society and natural disasters. He has been to Sichuan earthquake zone 15 times.
The original volunteer group that formed in Sichuan over time morphed into a small organization called Step Up.
Erik hopes that people would find comparable solutions in other parts of the world, places where things are not as they should be and essentially take it into their own hands to do something about it.
