A University of Colorado student and three other men were killed after investigators say their canoe overturned in an icy lake in Wisconsin earlier this month.
CU spokesman Ryan Huff
confirmed that Patrick Wetzel, 21, of Winnetka, Ill., was a senior at CU majoring in political science.
According to the Chicago Tribune, Wetzel and three other men -- Christopher McQuillen, 21, Lanny Patrick Sack, 20, and Mori Weinstein, 21 -- were discovered missing on Jan. 3 from a lake house near East Troy, Wis., where several other people also were staying.
The four men were discovered missing Sunday morning from a lake house near East Troy, Wis., where several other people also were staying.
By Jan. 5, rescuers had found the bodies of McQuillen, Weinstein and Sack. Efforts to locate Wetzel had been hampered by icy conditions on Mill Lake, and he was not found until Friday.
Authorities have said they believe the men went out on a canoe that overturned. They said alcohol had been consumed before the accident.
All four men had attended New Trier High School in Winnetka.
