The efforts of humanitarian workers are to be honoured at a
new award ceremony, hosted by the organisers of AidEx, an exhibition aimed at promoting best practice within the aid community.
The awards are open to anyone who works within the humanitarian aid sector, who has shown "tireless commitment" to their role and made a "significant and lasting impact".
Nominations are to be made by emailing a description as to why that individual deserves to win. The closing date is 1 July 2011, after which time the shortlisted entrants will be put to an online public vote. The winner will be announced at the AidEx Gala Dinner in Brussels in October.
"We are very excited about the launch of AidEx. It's the first time that a show which focuses exclusively on humanitarian aid has been launched so we wanted to really celebrate that by recognising those who work so passionately for the cause," said AidEx event director Nicholas Rutherford. "The winner will be decided by public vote, so by launching this new award, we are offering a platform to recognise an individual who has led and inspired those around them and is a shining example of why this community is so strong."
