As the most luxurious, comfortable and practical of any McLaren model produced to date, the new 2017 McLaren 570GT makes its world debut in Geneva. Despite placing greater emphasis on the
Visually, the new McLaren 570GT shares the look of the 570S but does introduce a number of distinctive cosmetic and aero tweaks. The most obvious are revised door inserts that transition from black to body-color to give it a more sophisticated character. The 570GT also features a fixed glass tinted panoramic roof with SSF (Sound & Solar Film) that absorbs radiation and provides added noise insulation along with a new side-hinged hatch glass that will open towards the curb depending on whether it has left- or right-hand drive. To fully accommodate that change, the revised rear spoiler on the new 570GT is about a half inch taller than the one on the 570S, a modification McLaren says keeps the aerodynamic characteristics identical to the flying buttress-style C-pillars on its S-spec sibling. The 570GT also wears unique 19-inch front/20-inch rear GT Design cast alloy wheels wrapped in Pirelli P Zero tires.

Inside, the 570GT’s expanded roster of standard features starts with extended leather upholstery, a power adjustable steering column, power heated memory seats, front/rear parking sensors and an 8-speaker McLaren Audio Plus sound system that can be upgraded to a 12-speaker Bowers & Wilkens unit. The leather-lined “touring deck” behind the 570GT’s buckets offers 7.8 cu ft of luggage space, bringing the car’s total stow capacity to 12.4 cu ft and, like the 570S Coupe, buyers will be able explore numerous personalization possibilities courtesy of the “By McLaren” design team.

Like the 570S Coupe, the new 570GT is fitted with a 562-horsepower/3.8-liter McLaren twin-turbo M838TE V8 that makes 443 lb-ft of torque shipped to the rear wheels via the 7-speed SSG transmission with Normal/Sport/Track settings. While its 3.4-second 0-60 mph sprint is 0.2-tick slower than the 570S, both cars have identical 204 mph top speeds. The exhaust system on the 570GT also has been toned down.
Chassis built for long-haul duty
The 570GT’s chassis setup also has been softened some to more closely reflect its stated purpose. This recalibration of its fully adaptive dampers, modified roll bar specs and a reduction of spring rates by 15 percent up front and 10 percent in the rear along with a two percent ratio reduction of its electro-hydraulic steering yields smoother response to driver inputs. The 570GT also has iron brake rotors in place of the carbon-ceramic units that are standard on the 570S Coupe.
Deliveries of the 2017 McLaren 570GT are set to start late this year. U.S. pricing and EPA fuel economy figures will be released closer to the on-sale date.
