Stylish, Quiet and Capable

Essentially a buttoned-up Chevrolet Silverado, the Sierra caters to worksite managers and weekend warriors even more so than your everyday Chevy alternative. Like its corporate sibling, the

Sierra boasts a stable of fuel-efficient engines and one of the best interiors in its segment. For 2016, the Sierra receives new front-end styling, new special editions and new tech features. In addition, the excellent 8-speed automatic is now offered with both the 6.2-liter V8 and the 5.3-liter V8.

Hear Yourself Think

General Motors paid close attention to keeping noise, vibration, and harshness out of the Sierra. Easily one of the quietest offerings in the segment, the Sierra has little trouble keeping road noise out thanks to a slew of sound-deadening materials that envelop the cabin. The recently refreshed interior also gives way to one of the nicest offerings currently available in a light-duty pickup, sitting second only to the Ram 1500. The Sierra Denali lineup has more posh touches throughout the interior, and comes with Magnetic Ride Control suspension, making the cabin even more comfortable.

Driving It

A few impressions from our full review: "At highway speeds, we found the Sierra's cabin remarkably quiet and comfortable, while the truck's suspension easily absorbed minor road distortions. We did find that over larger bumps and washboard surfaces, the Sierra's body-on-frame design showed its limitations, sending some rather unpleasant shuddering through the passenger cabin."

Consumer Reviews

Some insights from reader and Sierra owner KonaJack: "To say this truck has exceeded almost all my expectations would be an understatement. Other than an occasional rough downshift out of the new 8-speed transmission (which I hope will be fixed with new programming) and rather slow to respond info screen with somewhat second-rate TomTom Navi, I have absolutely no complainants. The interior is beautifully assembled and with high quality components including stitched leather real aluminum (and I am partial to Audi interiors)." Read more consumer reviews of the GMC Sierra.
