PUEBLO, Colo. (AP) — A Pueblo woman who pleaded guilty in the death of her 2-year-old foster daughter has been sentenced to seven years in prison.

The Pueblo Chieftain reports

( ) 24-year-old Sarah Finn was sentenced Monday. She previously pleaded guilty to child abuse resulting in death under a plea agreement for the August 2014 death of Chassie Pietrolungo.

The toddler had been under the care of Finn and her 37-year-old husband, Paul Finn, when she allegedly suffered a series of falls over a three-day period. Prosecutors say the couple had been negligent in not seeking immediate medical attention for the child.

Paul Finn was sentenced last year to 10 years of probation in the case.

Sarah Finn apologized in court Monday, saying she felt ashamed for not doing more to help Chassie.
