Though she has 100 film credits and has turned in amazing performances in movies like The Deer Hunter and Amityville Horror II, Rutanya Alda is linked forever, and to her delight,

to the camp classic, Mommie Dearest. She comes to Denver Public Library tomorrow evening to tell stories and sign copies of her new book, The Mommie Dearest Diary. Meet Hollywood Royalty!

The Mommie Dearest Diary with Rutanya Alda
Wednesday, October 7, 7-9 p.m.
Central Library, Level B2 Conference Center
Registration Required

Fasten your seatbelts, Denver; it's going to be a bumpy night! Actress Rutanya Alda, who played Carol Ann — Joan Crawford's long suffering handmaiden in the cult film Mommie Dearest — has published her memoir about the experience. Because the making of the film was so tumultuous, Rutanya Alda kept a journal as a positive way to talk herself through being on the set of one of the strangest film productions in her career. Now, almost thirty-five years later, that journal has become the foundation of Rutanya's fascinating account of making a destined-to-be cult film. And it turned out that, because of Faye Dunaway's over-the-top behavior and acting, she is a strong, if not altogether flattering, presence in Ms. Alda's memoir. Rutanya Alda reads excerpts from The Mommie Dearest Diary, meets the fans and signs copies of her book at this special debut engagement at Denver Public Library. Seating is limited.
